Dartmouth|Ghana Book Collection Program

Students at Manye Academy are the children of migrant farmers. They want to learn, but often don’t own so much as a book. This is where you come in.

Dartmouth Students can give used text books to support the Manye Foundation
We will come to your door to pick up any previously used text books you may have at the end of the term during reading period, finals and through the start of interim. No sense lugging your books down to the recycling or Sustainable pickup. We’ll come to your door.

Dartmouth students should blitz Ben Schwartz with their Room Number & Building as well as the Day for pickup in order to donate any books you no longer need and don’t want to worry about moving, recycling, or storing. We will come pick them up directly from your room or apartment based on the time you tell us. We are best for pickups after 5pm, although if there is no evening time that works, choose the best time for you. If you must leave books outside your door, you should plan to do so late in the day given our regular evening pickups (so the books do not cause a fire hazard sitting there longer than they need to).

Any useful books for higher education in Ghana or useful to the Manye Foundation or its partners will be shipped over. All other books of value will be resold with proceeds going to cover the costs of shipping and other general Manye programs. Any books donated without resale value or use in Ghana, will be given to Books for Africa, Sustainable Dartmouth, or another Upper Valley charity, depending on appropriateness.

As a Dartmouth student, you can also support the Manye Foundation as a volunteer. Grants are available through Dartmouth to cover your costs.
