Students on the internetAlthough we presently do not have the internet at the school, we still teach the internet on a field trip to an internet cafe. Manye believes technology can enhance education. We want to integrate technology into learning right at Manye.

Put your used laptop, software, or digital gear to good use.

We recently acquired about half a dozen laptop computers to establish our Computer Learning Center; however, we hope to enough computers for an entire class (about 20 to 25). We gladly accept both PC and Mac laptops. Due to electricity supply and shipping reasons, at the moment we only use laptops.

We also can use educational software that you no longer use (please respect copyright laws). Additionally, we would love to have a digital projector to make computer education classes more effective and to use for community events. Another program we run using technology is kids with cameras, giving students inexpensive digital cameras and camcorders to document the stories in their lives and share it with others around the globe over the internet.

Any donations should be in good working order. Our goal is to provide quality equipment for our students and community members to use. Just like you, we have no use for obsolete equipment that will not last.

If you have computer equipment or software you would like to donate in kind, please email us or contact us online anytime with what you have and how you want to get it to us.

We have special arrangements to keep shipping costs low and transit time short, so be sure to contact us before you ship. Also, for gifts of computer equipment, if you can ship it to us in the U.S., we can get it to Ghana. Contact us for details.

If you have any information or equipment related to high speed internet access please tell us. At present the high speed access available in this area is prohibitively expensive. We hope a new radio-internet service slated to roll out in our area in October 2006 will provide an improved connection.

Or, just donate online now to Manye Foundation’s general services which help cover the monthly internet bill, the cost of electricity for the school, and the purchase of new equipment for the free Computer Learning Center.
