Construction of Manye’s First Permanent School Building
This new structure will be the home and hub of Manye Foundation activity.
The Manye Foundation is trying to raise enough money to build the first permanent school building for its primary school, Manye Academy. We are in the midst of our Campaign for Our New Home, our program to construct our first permanent school building within the year. Please consider contributing to the construction of the school building so the children of Manye Academy have a place to learn during the rainy season. Contribute so families in this squatter settlement have a physical center to their community. Contribute so the children and parents can take ownership of being a part of a meaningful educational institution.
Why do we need a new building?
Families have faith in Manye and have put their children in our care because our programs have been so successful! We worked with about 35 children in 2005, though today we teach over 225 children from over 100 families. However, we will not be able to continue to provide a quality education and other critical services without your financial support! We urgently need your help to ensure we can continue to support this growing community.
We have been operating out of the headmaster’s home since we began. As we’ve expanded, we’ve built temporary structures to ensure a roof over our students’ heads when the rains come. Now is the time to construct our permanent school building so we can house all our classes and have room to expand. When the rains come, it’s nearly impossible to learn without a sturdy roof over your head. It’s time we build a structure that proves our commitment to education. Your gift will go to construction materials, labor, and basic furnishings to accomodate every student who wants to learn at Manye.
This building will not only serve as classrooms during the day for school, but we will also use them for community programs, providing lighted space in the evening for family classes, health programs, teacher training, tutoring, or other various community gatherings. The school compound already serves as a center for community activities, but with a permanent building that community members helped make possible, we will have a perfect home from which we can reach out to a larger community.
Please give the students a center for education that they can take pride in. Donate now.
