Community Health Day

On Saturday, 5th May, 2007 one of the best hospitals in the greater Tema area, Narh-Bita Hospital and School of Nursing, visited the young children and families at the Manye Foundation. Over one-hundred children and their parents had the opportunity to consult with nurses and doctors about their health without needing to pay any fee or travel a long distance. Children learned about how to properly keep themselves clean and healthy. Students had their eyes examined. Parents learned about how to ensure their children have a nutritious diet. Everyone recieved free medical attention and education based on their needs. Many of the children in our community suffer from worms and all those who were in need of de-worming medication recieved it free of charge. Similarly, everyone recieved free multi-vitamins and other necessary medicines.

Another of Manye’s energetic volunteers organized an overnight excursion to Cape Coast for the upper primary and JSS students. The students and teachers visited Cape Coast Castle, El Mina (St. George’s) Castle, University of Cape Coast, the beach, Kakum National Park (although the visit was cut short by rain), with a night’s stay at Adisadel College. Take a peek at some photos from the excursion.
